Youth Ministry
Dear Parent,
St. Joseph’s Youth Ministry Program is entering its eighteenth year. The program attempts to nurture the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person. The Youth Ministry Program seeks to draw young people to responsible participation in the life, mission, and work of the faith community. As Director of St. Joseph's Youth Ministry, I work closely with our youth to achieve these goals.
Some of the activities planned for this year(starting in early September ’08) include: Bronx River Clean up Crew, Peer Ministry, Project Hammer II (Habitat for Humanity), Midnight Run, Parish Breakfast with Santa, In the Spirit of Christmas Free Babysitting, Teen Leadership Program, Parish Advent Gift Project, Sunday Youth Mass, Lower Westchester Youth Gatherings, Eighth Grade Retreat, Living Stations of the Cross, Middle School Fun Nights, Fund Raising, CYO Basketball, and Social Activities. In addition to these activities, we are planning secular and sacred walking tours of Catholic New York. It is through these programs that the young adults experience a deeper relationship with Christ and what it means to be a Christian.
All youth of the parish are encouraged to join the Youth Ministry Program. Your son/daughter may register by returning the enclosed registration card to the Rectory, School, or Religious Education Office. You may also register by simply e-mailing antoinettegilligan@eircom.net. This is the only mailing this year; all correspondence will be done through e-mail. I will publish the monthly newsletter electronically and you can check it out by logging on to the parish website www.saintjosephsbronxville.org and clicking on Youth Ministry.
Adult chaperones are always needed for the activities of the Youth Ministry Program. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Antoinette Gilligan. Thank you for all that you have done for your child and the parish. I look forward to working with you and your teenager in the coming year.
Sincerely yours,
Mrs. Antoinette Gilligan
